Yay! 3 finals over and 8 more to go! The first kinda sucked but the last two didn't, so... here's to hoping for the next 8...

Movie Reviews

Been meaning to write this ages ago, but never had the time nor inclination until now.

The Dukes Of Hazzard

I've never watched the original TV series since I had yet to be born, but the movie was actually pretty entertaining. I wasn't really expecting anything but if I was disappointed, I wouldn't be surprised. But surprisingly, the movie was pure, unadulterated fun. Pure entertainment. But it's pretty much for the brain dead, I think, since the plot's kind of shallow. Like I said, it's a movie strictly for entertainment.

Stifler (as he's more famously known as) seems to have already been typecasted as the 'funny' man who's not entirely bright in the head (didn't get a chance to watch his movie with The Rock so I can't say if he had any roles that deviated from that type of character). His 'sidekick' whom I recall as the two-headed guy in Men In Black was likewise funny and balanced Stifler out by being, er, shall we say, less effusive? And I kind of forgot which one was Bo and which one was Luke.

Anyway, Jessica Simpson didn't really have to act here since her role of Daisy Duke consists of looking pretty and, well, looking pretty. All her clothes fit like second skin and half the time, she went about showing a lot of skin. I don't think that stretches her acting ability any and the only part of her role wherein she might have to act was her accent. But wasn't she one of the blond pop princesses (with Mandy Moore, Xtina Aguilera, and Britney Spears [although Brit's not a natural blond] as the others) who came from Texas or something? So I'm not entirely sure if her Southern accent was a big stretch of her talents or what. I'm a fan of Newlyweds and as far as I know, her accent's not that thick there.

Anyway, there are just two things that disturb me:

1. Stifler's car is called General Lee and is a 'he' and yet, he acts like the car's his lover and calls him 'baby'. Stifler even says "I'm going to have sex with it" to which two-head replies, "Don't you mean, you're going to have sex in it?" and Stifler says, "no, I'm having sex with it". So... uh... does this mean Stifler's gay? And yet he likes women of the human variety...

2. Practically throughout the entire movie, all I could think was, "don't they ever run out of gas?"

The Brothers Grimm

I was disappointed. And I wasn't expecting anything either but the plot was shady, the story didn't make sense (not enough for a movie to be made out of it, anyway), and the only reason it was watchable was because Matt Damon and Heath Ledger were the lead characters.
