To Friendship...
Kem dropped by last Thursday to visit and some of the barkada took her visit as a chance to hang out some and just sit back and relax. There was some drinks but no drunken anythings. Or even tipsy anythings. Or even tama anythings.
Anyway, we were hanging out here in the dorm when all of a sudden, it was like, boom! Freeze frame! There are just times in my life where I sit back and look around me, at the people around me, and I realize just how lucky I am to have such great friends. People I can talk to, hang out with, share my problems with. No matter how busy, I'm glad that we don't forget each other or completely ignore each other. We make time when we can so that we can spend time together. And I'm glad.
During lunch break, Erika, Verne and I were hanging out in the classroom waiting for Kem to arrive and we were talking about friends and fighting. And I told them that we were told during freshman (college) orientation that usually, whoever is your first 'bestfriend' will become your worst enemy somewhere along the line. I'm very happy that that didn't happen to me, to my barkada. Through thick and thin, we stuck it through. We used to be ten, though, but one shifted course when we were only in our second or third semester and we lost touch with her already. But out of the original ten, nine of us are still friends. And that's just great.
That's not even mentioning long-time friends whom I've known forever and brand new friends who mean a lot to me now.
So what if my love life's really lousy? At least I've got it where it counts: great friends and lasting friendships.
