Subic 2
Woke up early (again!) so we could go on the brand new place in Subic called the Zoobic Safari. Supposedly, there's a tiger safari there. My brother, Lota, and I went there and left Em-em with my parents because, obviously, an almost-5-month old baby can't go traipsing around with tigers around, yes?
And it was that morning when I realized, like, the fact was totally driven home, that I am, sadly, not mother material. I have no patience. Maybe it'll be different when I grow up (hm... not
likely) and maybe it'll be different with my own kid (hm... not likely), but when I was taking care of Em-em for, like, a hour coz I got left in the hotel room while my brother and Lota were eating
breakfast, while my dad brought my mom to the Church... and I couldn't take care of the kid. Well, I mean, I could, but I just knew I didn't have enough patience for it.
See, he woke up and that's fine and I carried him coz he was crying. Then he stopped, then he cried again, so I put him down. He'd roll over and then cry. I carry him. He'd stop, then cry. He had no poop and his diaper is, like, wet-proof. I sat him down coz sometimes he likes that. Nope, cry again. I fed him some coz he might be hungry. Nope, not that. Finally, I just got tired of it. I sat down and made him sit and then made him stand. Apparently, he liked that. So there I was, sitting down, hands in front of me, holding Em-em so he could stand on my legs. And we were just like that. Until Lota and kuya came back.
It doesn't mean I love the little kid any less... I'm just... If I tend to not know why a baby is crying, I get frustrated and impatient.
Anyway, back to the Zoobic Safair. It was sooooo hot that day
In the meeting hall or whatever you wanna call it, there were two tigers tied up for picture taking opportunities. Although I love tigers, I didn't bother since you have to use the Subic prof photographer and it costs php190 for 2 shots. Hello? I can use my digicam for a whole lot cheaper and for unlimited shots.
There was also this model there. I think she was either Korean or Chinese or Taiwanese or one of those kind of white chinky eyed races. She was tall, thin, wearing a halter top and shorts with
her hair down. She went around with an entourage - 2-3 cameramen, one PA (I guess), and one reporter who seemed to be of the same race as her. None of us knew who the heck she was and neither did we even care. She did go close to one of the tigers, though, to have her picture taken. And then I think she left.
Once the crowd dissipated from the area surrounding the tigers, I took more shots. I kinda like this coz I used the flash and it reflected in the tiger's eyes.
Also, there were a few cages over on one side. There was a bearcat, I think... whatever. It was kind of wide and none of us knew what species it was. And then, there was also a deer. But the
one I totally adored was this:
I adore tigers. I've wanted to have one since I saw Aladdin and Princess Jasmin has Raja. I asked the woman in the souvenier shop and she said that one cub costs php500,000. Forget it. I can get a car for that. And, sadly, I don't even have the temperament to be a trainer. Like I mentioned with Em-em, if I don't know what's wrong or the person/pet can't follow me or what I want, I'm just going to be all, "Augh! Forget it!" Haaaay. There goes my dream of having a pet tiger, hawk, eagle, falcon, dolphin. Hm... although I'm thinking that since dolphins are really smart and, as they say in Discovery, they actually like being trained and stuff, maybe training one won't be so bad...
And the safari wasn't what I was expecting. I thought it would be like what you see on TV, yknow, where animals attack the vehicle and stuff. I knew they wouldn't attack us, but still. I guess I expected a lot more. It's the first safari I've ever been to.
There were about 5 tigers in an enclosure and it was hilly and stuff. And they had a pool with a fountain that looks a whole lot nicer than some of the human pools I've seen. 3 tigers were
lounging in the pool.
Sorry the pix isn't too nice. The driver began moving just as I hit the shutter.
Here's the other two tigers, who were lounging under the shade. Our vehicle went real near and they were so huge!
I definitely want one. Preferably one trained. Or one that's super smart, he/she doesn't need to be trained. Just, yknow, fed.
Also, I've found a dream summer job for me! I want to work in Subic! With the animals. Either in Ocean Adventure or Zoobic Safar. Yknow, just be those tour guide people. People on the side
whom other people go to and ask stuff. Or be those tour people who go in front of the crowd and having this mini-lecture about whatever animal. I could be that. I could totally do that. There
wasn't anything that the guide was saying that I didn't already know (braggart much?). I would loooove to be able to work there. And summer are their busiest months, right? Or something. So I'm sure they'll need help, right? Right? So, anyway, I could try that. Next summer, that is.
Also next time we go there, I'm definitely trying out parasailing. It's only php1000 per person (it's a bit expensive, but it's relatively cheap when you think about what you're getting in
return). In that one grand, you get to stay up (400 ft... or was it meters??? feet nga ata; masyadong mataas meters) for 10 minutes. Heck, I think it's worth it! I mean, parasailing? That's, like, the closest thing to flying! I'd totally shell out 1k for that! The going up and going down isn't counted on the meter. Your time meter starts once you hit 400 feet. And you don't even have to get wet coz you, er, lift off (?) and descend on the boat itself. I think that's totally cool. As in! Unfortunately, we found out about it late (dinner of our last night there) and since
we left early the next day (830am - when the water sports whatever opens), we couldn't avail of it. But I think my entire family wants to try it out.
Can't wait to return!
