I loved the books and even watched the short-lived series when I was in high school (or was it grade school?). Yesterday, I was able to buy the DVDs of season 1 (was there ever a season 2?).
And... well... those people can't act. Really. They look good, I guess, and that's all that I can say about them. I think the casting person casted people who looked a lot like how the characters are described in the book.
Liz and Jess (Brittany and Cynthia Daniel) - I can agree with that choice coz they really look like the Wakefield twins 'xcept for the color of the eyes, but I think the actess that plays Liz acts
better. The actress that plays Jess... well, she thrusts her breasts a bit way too much for my tastes. And they cannot cry.Todd Wilkins, I can deal, 'xcept that I thought book-Todd had dark hair and he was cast as a blond. He and Elizabeth look cute together and I guess, this is his post-Vermont trip where his family became richer because his car (when it's shown) is a black BMW. Enid Rollins is also someone I can accept, she's cute and perky. Lila Fowler is also another good cast. Although she and Jess have a better friendship on-screen than they do on the books. Patty is a sorry character who wasn't even a main character in the books. Likewise with Manuel - Bruce's sidekick. I expected Bruce Patman to look cuter and be taller... and without the annoying hair I just inch to cut. Winston is actually kind of cute, and he's the saving grace of the entire cast coz he can act.
Anyway, watching the series made me miss my books. I used to be a massive fan until I reached the 100s part of the book wherein I stopped collecting. I think it's a mixture of my tastes changing slightly (and expanding too) as well as the annoying soap-opera-tic like stories that Sweet Valley was tossing out. Sadly, I don't think I see any more Sweet Valley (Kids, Twins, High, University, Unicorns, etc) on the market. Have they stopped making it? It used to be the mark of being a teen, to have read the series. And now it's... gone. In bookstores, the only work of Francine Pascal's that I can see is a series entitled "Fearless". I've read the back and it doesn't really seem all that interesting.
Surprising how time flies and change, eh?

Why is it that when I download my blog page, I can't get to the comments?

There are people in your life that end up meaning so much to you that words aren't enough to express them. They end up being your best/close friends, people who have been with you through thick and thin, people who transfer or move to places miles and miles away from you and yet you're still close.
Saying "thank you" doesn't encompass the gratitude you feel, it cannot even begin to cover how much the person has come to mean to you.
Saying "I miss you" isn't even enough coz there are just times in your life when you just need them beside you that it's almost a physical pain or that you got so used to them as a constant in
your life that you find yourself turning next to you to say share something in your mind, expecting them to be there, when they're not.
Saying "I love you" helps but one does not blurt that out every day of the week unless you're 'in' love with the person, yes? And sometimes, they're not exactly the right words to use to express
how you feel and it's not the message you want to get across. And besides, I'm kind of a private person, somewhat, who doesn't like waving around senti words for the world to see/hear, even if I do mean them.
