Subic

Isn't this a cute pic? My brother and his family had a few photo ops one day and I love this pic coz my nephew looks up at my brother. Very father-son moment kinda thing.

Anyway, left for Subic early in the morning (hey, 7am is early for me). It was a sudden trip that I only found out about the day before. See, early Friday morning (April 29), it was announced
that Monday (May 2) would be a holiday, and since my mom has been wanting to go to the beach lately, she suggested we go to Subic. Of course, we all agreed and we all went.

On our first day, we went to Ocean Adventure because my mom wanted to go through the Whale Encounter (where you meet and swim with the two whales there) but, unfortunately, when we arrived, the last 'show' was already undergoing and the next one was the next day - which ended up being fully booked already. So, boohoo. Anyway, we went and watched the Whale-Dolphin show.

The whales were named Pounder and Hook. And it was so cute, coz while, waiting, Em-em was doing this:

He was on Lota's lap and my brother next to her and I was next to my brother.

Anyway, after the whale show thing, we went around Ocean Adventure for a while before leaving. As we were driving back, we saw some monkeys on the road (a common occurrence) and here's one with a baby that's just newly born little monkey (the skin [fur?] was still glistening).

We think that people might be feeding them when no one's looking. See, you're not supposed to feed the monkeys (or tease them or yell at them and, of course, you're not supposed to run over them). But when we saw one, we parked on the shoulder so we could all look at it and even show Em-em one (not that he was able to appreciate it) and a whole bunch of them showed up and was peering at the cars (other cars parked too).

Anyway, after that, we went to the Bat Kingdom which is this overlook into a valley-ish type of place that was filled with bats. Like, they live there and stuff. And they're huge, almost a meter wide and stuff. So cool. Sadly, when we went there, there was... well... no bats.

I want to write an angry letter Mad Subic administration and whoever goverment official who's on the chair right now should take care of Subic and it's environment. It is the one place in Luzon that I feel proud of Filipinos because we've managed to maintain it. But nooooo. And this is really sad. I'm all for the environment pa man din! Happy Earth Day
