Batman Begins
Watched ages ago. I was kind of disappointed, which is kind of weird since I didn't really expect a whole lot. I adore the Michael Keaton version, accepted Val Kilmer, and Alicia Silverstone was the only saving grace of the Batman move with George Clooney. I always said that if you could have Val Kilmer play Bruce Wayne, Michael Keaton play Batman and forget George Clooney, it'd be great.
Christian Bale was a decent enough Batman. I hated Katie Holmes - and I think her whole 'romance' with Tom might've something to do with it. When I searched out Christian Bale's filmography, I couldn't believe that he played "Thomas" in Walt Disney's Pocahontas. Must've watched it a hundred times and I can't quite picture Chris Bale as the young lad who idolizes John Smith.
The one saving grace - for me, that is - is Cillian (pronounced "Kee-lee-an") Murphy, who played Dr. Crane/Scarecrow. Unfortunately, he was only in, like, half of the movie. The rest is all about Chris Bale.
Actually, Trish 'called' him first. And I was respecting her dibs... but then I dreamt him. And it was a very good dream. We kissed in my dream... and he was a good kisser. Hahaha And after that, I crushed him. Now, I've asked Trish's permission and I am guilt-free in crushing over Cillian. He's married, though, so he's still off-limits.
Fantastic Four
I remember bits and pieces of the cartoon, but not the complete story. I liked the movie. Adored Chris Evans in his role as the Human Torch :) It's cool. It's a movie that falls under the list of will-buy-dvd.
Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince
Pure magic! Need I say more? It was worth the wait. Read it from about 830-9 and finished before 3. Around 230-3. Then reread the parts I liked.
Although I did have some complains. Very minimal. Very. So, for those who haven't read it, beware, because there will be spoilers.
1. Let's start at the title: Half-blood Prince. Who'd thunk it? Severus Snape. I sucks crap that he's actually turned out to be a bad guy. I might delude myself into thinking that he killed Dumbledore coz he did an Unbreakable Vow, but then his face of "rage" when he killed Dumby kind of killed off any hope that Snape is redeemable. Although, really, the reason he gave Dumbledore was kind of thin. Can't believe Dumbledore believed him, him being an accomplished Legilimens (?). Then again, Snape was good at Occlumency so I guess equal lang sila. But, yeah, hindi rin ba naisip ni Dumbledore na Voldemort was good at both Occlumency and Legilimens?
2. Next, I thought Harry had to stay with the Dursley's for at least a month every year so that the protective charm/spell placed on him would work? And yet Dumbledore picked him up only after a "fortnight" with the Dursleys.
3. And why did Dumbledore finally give Snape the Defense Against The Dark Arts job? Is it just so that the whole jinx will still be true? Coz Snape also only stayed at the post for a year.
4. I adore that the Ginny-Harry thing finally happened. I've been rooting for her since the second book. And, really, they're meant to be together coz she's the only one who understands him. Gets where he's from and what he's doing and why there's thing nobility "saving-people-thing" (tm Hermione) in him. She's... well, I just really think that she's perfect for him. It's really sad they didn't even get to last long.
5. Why, oh why, did the DA stop meeting? They never said it was a 1-year thing. Besides, I would think they'd continue on since, duh, the Wizarding World is at war, isn't it?
6. How can Harry leave school for his seventh year when he doesn't even know half of the spells and potions out there in the wizarding world? He even had to have Snape's unsolicited and unknowingly given tips. Can he even survive?
7. I knew it I knew it I knew it! Harry is Sirius' heir. I just knew it. He's totally rich. And it's about time the Dursley's knew about it. They should salivate over all the financial blessings that Harry has. And oooh, I just adored the way Dumbledore reprimanded the lot of them for how they've treated Harry.
8. My absolutely positive fave moment in the book? When Harry tells Dumbledore that Scrim-whatever, the new Minister of Magic, said that "[scrim-whatever] told me [harry] was Dumbledore's man through and through."
ALBUS: How very rude of him.
HARRY: I told him I was.
Silence... wherein Dumbledore got all weepy. I just... I just adore that scene right there. It was simple, but it spoke volumes of the way these two feel about each other.
9. Who the heck is RAB? I keep thinking it's Bones... but I can't remember anyone with the initials RAB in the wizarding world. And why would RAB expect to be dead when Voldy finds out he's stolen and destroyed the Horcrux?
10. What the heck happened to the start of summer? At the end of book5, the Order said they'll watch over Harry and expect to hear from him and yet I don't see any evidence of that in the sixth book.
11. And I'm glad they finally got to show Ron's birthday. It's a first. It was also hysterical, with him drinking the love potion meant for Harry.
12. And at the end of the book, Harry says he's going to visit his parent's grave... duh, he only thinks of that after 17 years?! He never even tried or thought about it before? Yeesh.
13. I've got mixed emotions about the barrage of new characters and names JK Rowling threw at us this time. I mean, hello? Are we supposed to care about R-whatever Vane? I don't even know her. This is the first time I've heard about her.
14. I cried when Dumbly died. So great a warrior... although, really, why will Voldemort give the assignment to a 16-year-old to kill the greatest wizard that ever lived? When Voldemore himself can't kill Dumbledore? Did he just basically sent Draco to die? Not that Dumbledore would ever raise a hand to a little kid that still has some good in him. Snape got lucky that Dumbledore was weak.
15. And what gives with Draco crying all over the place to Myrtle?! Get real. Never gonna happen. Redeemable good or not - it's just not in Draco's nature to cry in front of anyone, least of all a loser ghost he probably hates.
Anyway, most likely I've got more thoughts on that to come. When I'm not so busy.
Toxic Week
I have to pass integ tomorrow (w/c I haven't started), have to do my part of the Patho slide compilation for the entire class to study, have to study for Pharma test on Friday (and pharma is soooo hard) and then study during the weekend for our modular test on Monday. In fact, I think we're having more than one test on Monday. If our schedule is to be followed, we'll be having a long exam on Oncology (aka Cancer), Pathology, and Surgery. Toxic? Yes.
