Back To School Again
School started June 6 and the whole day was just basically orientations. Tuesday, lessons started and I can't believe how tired I am. And that's just the first week! I guess it's because I have to photocopy and fix the transcripts from last year and then read the day's tranx as well as the next day's. I always thought that I'd still have time for other things (like writing stories and maybe going online every now and then), but I guessed wrong.
I was supposed to go online last Friday, when I arrived back home but I couldn't coz our computer back home crashed. Total bad timing. And so here I am, back online and writing on my blog. Finally.
All I can say about the first week of second year med? Very tiring. And I don't expect it to be any easier as the days go by.
On the semi up side, I, along with HumBio classmates, are excused for classes on Wednesday for graduation practices. I'm finally graduating from college this June 18. Finally. I'm a little late, but, hey, better late than never, right? And I can't obsess about it coz, hey, it's done and over with and nobody has yet invented a time machine so that I can turn back time, right? Life goes on. And I'm just happy at the way things are.
Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince
I so can't wait for the book to come out already. Unfortunately, I checked my schedule and I have an exam the Monday right after (I have an exam every Monday, unfortunately). So that means that, in order to read the book, I'd either cram all day and all night Sunday or study hard during the week so that when I get my hands on the book, I can read it all throughout. I mean, I really don't think I can really wait. So I plan on studying loads the week before. And I definitely can't open the book (if in case I haven't finished it) on Sunday of that weekend.
Also, I'm very curious as to who the title pertains to. According to a net site that I read, the title doesn't refer to either Harry Potter or Lord Voldemort. So I wonder who it could be?
Harry Potter 4 & 5
Just a mistake that I noticed lately. At the start of HP5, Harry can see the thestrals which are winged bat-horses that you can only see if you've seen somebody die. So how come, at the end of HP4, Harry couldn't see it? Even though it was said, in the last chapter, after Harry saw Cedric die, that Harry had gone back to the train station via the "horseless carriages"?
I'm glad to see that JK Rowling is a mere human. Heheh
Current Events
There is political unrest. Again. Geez, what else is new? They're complaining that Prez GMA cheated so that she'd win the last election. Do I care? Can you name a president in this country that didn't cheat? Save for Prez Aguinaldo and possibly the first five presidents or something. And it's not so bad that GMA is sitting in the presidency; at least she's not worsening the economy, right? Sure, she's not really doing anything, but she's also not doing anything bad which is more than you can say about others. I'm tired of seeing the peso-dollar exchange rate fluctuate so wildly. I'm tired of seeing the peso's value go lower and lower. I'm tired of seeing people suffer, of knowing that people around me are also suffering. I never thought I'd lose hope in my own country, but right now, migrating seems like such a good idea.
And another thing, the so-called proof that GMA cheated is actually a wire-tapped conversation between GMA and some guy named Ong ( I think), who is/was the COMELEC chief whatever. And people are demanding that GMA and Ong are to be arrested or that GMA will step down due to this 'proof'. Hello?! That's not even legal! First of all, you can't just tap and record a phone conversation, you have to get the permission of the parties involved. Otherwise, it won't hold up in court. And let's just say that the phone conversation was GMA-Ong. Are they even absolutely positively sure it's those two? Could be wired.
Don't get me wrong. I won't be surprised if GMA did in fact cheat in the elections. But our country has gotten so bad that cheating during elections is the norm. The person who wins was the one who paid the most. Or had the scariest threat. Whatever and whichever of the two. I'm just... used to it. And that's a really sad thing to think about. Graft and corruption don't even surprise me or even raise any emotion other than weary resignation.
Madagascar
Watched the movie. It was kind of a let-down. Sure, there were funny parts and I always like hearing David Schwimmer's voice... but, still, it wasn't what I was expecting. Which is funny coz the movie disappointed me somewhat.
Mr. & Mrs. Smith
Spying and marriage never looked this good! The final fight? So sexy and action-packed. Angelina Jolie? Oozing sex appeal and so darn sexy and so drop-dead gorgeous. Brad Pitt? The only guy sexy enough and pretty enough to be Angelina's equal in a movie. Angelina would've shadowed her co-star had it been another actor. I love Angelina's gadgets and her moves. Love Brad's character. My only quibble? There were some plot holes that weren't tied off nice and clean. I ended up wondering about that in the end.
Regardless of whether the romance rumors and real or not (unlike, say, Tom and Katie which is just all, forget about it!), their on-screen chemistry was positively sizzling. I adored it!
And their conversations with the absent marriage counselor? Pure magic and so funny.
COUNSELOR: How long have you been married?
JOHN: Five years.
JANE: Six.
JOHN: Five or six years.
COUNSELOR: How long ago did you meet?
JOHN: Five years ago.
JANE: Six.
JOHN: Five or six years ago.
They make marriage look fun. And enjoyable. And people who are married and know enough about marriage would be able to appreciate the humor and situations those two find themselves in.
I'm definitely getting the DVD.
