Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King Special Extended DVD Edition
Weirdly enough, even though I was looking forward to the movie and special features for the past, well, year, now that I do have it... I'm not as fanatic as I thought I'd be. Granted, I was so excited to watch the movie... and I did. And I browsed through some of the special features, just looking for the parts where they interview or talk about the cast... and then now I'm okay. It's not like the very first time I got the first extended version, where I just had to spend the entire day watching the whole thing.
Now, though, I even fast-forwarded through the Frodo parts. He really is useless, you know
I wish Sam were the main star. I think that's the downside of the third movie. You've got loads of actions and all the other characters' stories are so cool, but then it's interspersed with Frodo moments. And that just sucks. It's boring, it's dragging, it's annoying and someone just shoot him! Or, rather, Sam! (Why doesn't he have a smiley??) Push him off the ledge! Push him off the ledge!! The world will thank you. Trust me.
As for the others...
Legolas was still pretty
Gimli was still funny
Aragorn was still hot (doesn't he look totally gay with this smiley?)
Gandalf was still gay
Gollum/Smeagol was still, for me, adorably disgusting.
Saruman's part was totally cool and I sure wish it was included in the theatrical version, Faramir was also a total hottie and he's getting it on with Eowyn (you go, boy!). Merry and Pippin are still funny, but more serious this time. They are now not afraid to show the world that Merry
Pippin and Pippin
Merry, kind of like how Sam
Frodo and Frodo
Gollum. Meanwhile, Gollum
Ring while Ring
Eye. Arwen, still pretty and adorable - and how is it possible that someone like Liv Tyler can be chubby and still damn sexy?! -
Aragorn while Aragorn attracts heterosexual women by the score. Eomer was still noble, Theoden seems to give off homosexual vibes, Grima was still greasy and good thing he's only got, like, 10 minutes of fame. Also, in this movie, there's a lot of emphasis on wizards - ahem - staffs and swords and all that
Perhaps that commentary gave some idea of how I viewed the entire movie last night. At first, I was almost having heart palpitations with excitement and happiness... after the first hour though (when they showed the 2nd Frodo part), I began to find humor in each scene.
Anyway, my LOTR luv might've lessened somewhat, but that doesn't make me any less of a huge fan hehehe I will definitely watch all this when vacation hits - also watching all the special features and the cast commentaries of all three movies.
So fun! My summer plans are pretty much relaxation and brain-dead activities LOL I want to watch DVDs/TV
and read loads of books
!
