LESSONS FROM COMMUNITY MEDICINE
Nice to know (and this helps me study):
1. Did you know that family has cycles? And that there are 5, namely:
a. unattached young adult
b. newly married couple
c. family with young children
d. family with adolescents
e. launching family
f. family in later years
And here I thought families were just that, families. I didn’t know there was a science to it.
2. Each child has his/her own personality based on their order of births, like such:
a. first born – generally persevering, serious, more responsive to adults, achievement-oriented; is that my brother and all the people I know who are you panganays? I believe so
b. middle child – optimistic, sociable, aggressive, competitive, at times manipulative; I only know of 1 middle child and that’s my cousin who we tease has the ‘middle child syndrome’, I think the description is applicable, but not always
c. youngest – (that’s me!) demanding, outgoing, narcissistic, by nature affectionate; some are applicable, some are not
Where do they get these?
3. The last ‘nice to know’ that I found interesting: working mothers tend to stress independence training and achievement orientation on their children.
A study was done to learn this?
