LAUGHTER, THE BEST MEDICINE

It is agreed the world over that laughter is the best medicine. Other than it's physical benefits - works the abs, yknow - it also lightens the soul. Yet for me, the most important sickness that laughter can heal is pain. When something matters, when something hurts, I laugh it off. When the ones I love are disappointed in me no matter how hard I try... I laugh it off. I joke, I tease, I let everything be 'healed' by laughter. When someone says something that hurts me, I smile, I joke. I laugh.

Laughter helps, always, to hide the pain in some secret part of my heart until I can almost convince myself I don't feel it. But sometimes, no matter how hard I hide it, no matter how often I smile, how hard or long I laugh, I feel it. And it hurts. And that's when I can't hold back the tears.

Sometimes laughter isn't enough. But often, it's the only thing I have.
