I was sitting in class this afternoon, surrounded by guys, and I happen to hear/listen to some of their “guy talk”. While I do admit I miss hanging out with guys and being close with them and all that, I was just so amused at what they were talking about. They were talking about things like “sinong lalaki ang mukhang mamboboso?” and “sino yung 5 na babae sa class ang gusto mong i-… lam mo na…”
I have to confess that I was very curious to the point that I was trying to eavesdrop. They were talking about our classmates, who’s the prettiest, who do they wanna have sex with, who they think is ‘slutty’ and/or ‘easy’, etc. I guess in a sense, maybe some would call that trash talk or, y’know, backbiting or whatever. But then… they were just talking about who seemed to be those personalities and not necessarily that they possess said qualities. It was interesting because with those kinds of conversations, you get to know how the guy thinks. And I miss that… although if guys talk that way nowadays, there’s only so much I can take before saying something like, “ano ba?! You don’t even know her! Malay mo she’s nice!” (and guys, sadly, have a tendency to respond in such: “sa mukhang ganyan?!” or “hindi noh! Impossible! With the way she acts?” or share a rumor/story about that girl that proves his judgment true) because, really, it’s quite depressing and insulting for a girl to be dubbed with a slutty personality when it’s not who she is at all. But then, boys will be boys (notice I said ‘boys’ and not ‘men’).
They actually asked for my opinion on which guy I thought looked like… hm… I forgot the exact term they used, but it kinda means ‘mamboboso’ and stuff. Whatever term they used, when I asked what exactly it meant, they replied, “yung kung tumingin eh feeling mo nahuhubad ka or hinuhubad ka”, “yung kausap ka pero hindi naka-tingin sa mata mo, kung hindi sa dede mo”, “yung feeling mo madumi ka pag-kausap mo siya”, and “basta, yung tingin na nakaka-bastos”. I didn’t know who to say since I thought that was a kind of offending thing to say about a guy… but then they pleaded and I was all, I gave a name. Buti nalang they laughed and agreed with me, likewise citing other guys. I never really noticed anything like that with guys’ stare.
Pero grabe naman… I would think that even if there were bastos guys out there, medyo discartehan naman nila tingin nila, diba? Else they’ll probably get an average of a slap per day. And my gosh, can’t people just, y’know, act like people? With respect and stuff. Not all girls are sluts… and I think that even prostitutes and such deserve even a small degree of respect.
